The Norwegian Ministry of Environment is responsible for policy concerning cultural heritage.
The Directorate for Cultural Heritage
The Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren) is responsible for the practical implementation of the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act and the objectives laid down by the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) and the Ministry of the Environment.
The Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs
The Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs is responsible for cultural policy, church affairs, regulations and other matters regarding the media and sports. The Ministry is responsible for government policy concerning museums.
Norwegian archive, library and museum authority
The Norwegian Archive, Library and Museum Authority is a public institution under the authority of the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs, but it also works across departmental and other administrative boundaries.

Norwegian World Heritage
The Directorate for Cultural Heritage presents the Norwegian World Heritage sites: Røros Mining Town, The Rock Carvings in Alta, Bryggen in Bergen, Urnes Stave Church (owned by Fortidsminneforeningen), the Vega Archipelago, The West Norwegian Fjords and Struve Geodetic Arc.
