History and practical information

Kvernes Stave Church was probably built between 1300 and 1350. It is of the Møre type, characterised by central posts in the external wall and crossbeams.

The church has been heavily rebuilt, and the cogged chancel was added in 1633. However, the main structure has been preserved, including ties, corner posts, middle posts, parts of the wall planks and the post sills. The interior is characterised by post-Reformation furnishing and painted decorations from the 1630s and 1640s.
